Team drivers
-
Both drivers need to log in
-
Once 1st driver logs in then Click “Add” bottom right hand of screen

Log in 2nd driver then Click “Ok”
Switching Drivers
-
Touch the drivers name then touch “change”
-
It will ask for new drivers last 4 of SS
-
Enter then hit “OK”
-
Driver going off duty needs to log into Sleeper Berth (SB)
-
Driver can sit in passenger seat for 2 hours at a time
-
The current driver will always be “active” and the other will be “inactive”
8 Day Tab
-
Past 8 days of duty status
-
Driver sends logs to DOT officer and elogs@truckingsafetyinc.com.

Touch Request type in the fax number or email address given by officer.

Put officers name in attention field touch request.

Touch OK.

Shows the drivers previous 8 days it’s the only place a driver can find their logs after they’ve been approved.

14 Hours
-
In order for your 14 hours to stop counting you must be off duty 8 hours – otherwise it will keep running
-
Driver must be in sleeper berth for 8 hours to stop clock
30 Minute Break
-
Always use Dot Break, and always Off Duty
34 hour Restart
-
Team drivers must take 34 hour restart at same time
-
Drivers are not to be assigned to load until both drivers have finished 34 hour restart
-
By law – one driver cannot be driving while the other driver is in sleeper berth on 34 hour restart
Approving E Logs
-
Driver must approve and email by 10 am on Sunday
-
Drivers do not get paid until E Logs are turned in
-

Areas to watch for
-
Team drivers – one of the drivers hop out of the truck – the other driver is out of hours so he uses his co driver’s hours
-
If a driver edits all of his/ her on duty time and changes it to off duty, it will not stop the 14 hour clock unless it is 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper berth.
Day Logs
-
Safety does not have them touch this area but driver might have to show officer this area
Drive Time
-
Elogs will automatically put the driver into “driving” once the driver drives 2 miles or reaches the speed of 25 miles per hour
-
If customer needs driver to move under 2 miles they need to make sure that the speed is 24 miles per hour or lower or logs will automatically turn on to drive time
Duty Status Change
-
Any time you change status you need to add comment

Hit “change” at bottom right hand corner
Duty Status Changes once Approve

Christine or Abbie are the only two that can make changes
Edit E Logs
-
Can only edit if logs are not approved

Go to approve tab
-
Touch area that you want to change
-
It will highlight along with the “Edit” button at the bottom right hand corner

Edit log and make sure you put remark – “Fixing Logs”

Multiple Edits – is going to be obvious that driver is cheating

Hours to be Gained
-
If is on the drivers Omnitracs unit it is on the “Status” page
-
We can review hours to be gained in Hours of Service in Omnitracs
-
The drivers can see the hours they will gain back each night at midnight.
EX: This driver will gain 8 hours and 34 minutes back tonight at midnight, and will gain back 3 hours and 24 minutes the following night at midnight.

Hours Summary

It will only show that you have 8 hours available not 11 hours until the driver takes their 30 minute brake.

Load Tab
-
Information automatically downloads when the driver accepts a load
-
If not automatic must touch new load and type information in to show load. If no load driver gets general form and manner ticket. Must edit load if they drop off early or recover a new load to show correct drop dates.
Logging Out
-
Driver is to log out on home time and at shops
-
If driver does not log out at a shop and the shop drives truck it will log the driver as driving and could ruin the break you are on
Off Duty Driving
-
Driver is allowed to drive for one hour – cannot be assigned to load and cannot be hooked to trailer

This is used for driver to go Walmart for example

If the driver misuses Off Duty Driving, it will be taken away

Example – driver is unloading at Kroger he is kept there 6 hours and runs out of hours – driver is not allowed to stay on their yard and has to drive

Select where you are at shipper or consignee for change then click on Blank field and key in reason

Example: Shipper made me leave yard had to drive to safe location
